Volvo Group and Eicher Motors’ joint venture VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV), reported an increase of 25.6 per cent in sales as of September 2017 from the previous year. The company that has been operational since 2008, has sold 6,083 units in September 2017 as compared to 4,843 units in September 2016. The total number of units sold comprise of 5,934 units of Eicher brand and 149 units of Volvo brand.
VECV, which includes the complete range of Eicher branded buses along with their components and engineering design services, has recorded sales of 5,084 units (YTD 22,529 units) in September 2017 as compared to 4,148 units in September 2016 (LYTD 24,864 units) representing a growth of 22.6 per cent in the domestic commercial vehicle market alone.
Eicher branded buses and trucks have exported 850 units in September 2017 (YTD 3,743 units) as against 586 units in September 2016 (LYTD 4,199 units) representing a sales growth of 45.1 per cent. All in all, Eicher branded units have constituted 25.3 percent of the total sales.
The company also looks after the sales and distribution of Volvo trucks in the country. Volvo branded units recorded sales of 149 units in September 2017 (YTD 324 units) as compared to 109 units in September 2016 (LYTD 307 units).
