The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association has (ACMA) has expressed profound grief on the passing away of J Jayalalithaa, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu (1948-2016), saying her government has helped the State emerge as a leading manufacturing hub. Expressing grief Rattan Kapur, President ACMA said, “We are saddened at that Jayalalithaa, who changed the face of automotive industry in the state of Tamil Nadu, is not with us anymore." "Her charisma and unique leadership style not only helped the state excel on the socio-economic front but also emerge as a leading automotive manufacturing hub. In her passing away, we have lost a true friend of the industry.” Expressing grief over Jayalalithaa's demise, even motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield closed its operations on December 6. Informed the company in an official statement, "All Royal Enfield offices and plants in Chennai remained closed on December 06 2016 following the sad demise of Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on December 05, 2016."
