Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (Suzuki), a hundred per cent owned subsidiary of Suzuki Motors Corporation Japan, has launched the new Intruder motorcycle at Rs 98,340 (ex-showroom), in two colour variants: Metallic Oort and Glass Sparkle Black.
Dubbed as “India’s modern cruiser” by the motorcycle manufacturer, the Intruder has a 155 cc four-stroke one-cylinder engine with a torque of 14 Nm. The fuel system uses carburetion and the transmission is a manual five-speed. The twin exhaust has a sharp design for improved exhaust efficiency and contributes to the sporty appearance of the bike. The engine, which is developed under Suzuki’s new concept, Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP), offers both low fuel consumption and superior acceleration.
All necessary functions are packed into a compact full-digital meter, that has a flat panel design that looks like a smart-phone. The engine RPM indicator is the same as that for Hayabusa and GSX-R1000 in specification. Its segments above the specified rpm can be made to flash when that speed is reached. “ready go” appears at the end of the animation when the ignition switch is turned on.
The design of the bike features an authentic “Intruder” style 12 V 35/35 W headlight and horizontally laid out LEDs for the tail light. The disc brakes are equipped with ABS for added safety along with telescopic suspension for the front wheel and swing-arm suspension for the rear.
Other specifications include a 11-litre fuel tank, and a 740 mm seat height. The overall width of the bike is 805 mm and the overall height is 1095 mm.
Speaking at the launch, Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, SMIPL, said, “The birth of Intruder in 1985 gave the world – a modern cruiser. Today, Suzuki is proud to bring the same Intruder lineage, revered worldwide for its unique styling and performance to India. We are committed to offering our young customers new premium products that are high on quality and technology, yet retain the inherent sportiness and youthfulness of the brand Suzuki.”
