Ashok Leyland has received an order for 2,200 buses from the Government of Sri Lanka. These buses are expected to be supplied within the next six months. This order is one of the largest purchase by the Sri Lankan Transport Board (SLTB). The Sri Lankan government is focusing to modernise its existing fleet, and also improve the public transport network. Vinod K Dasari, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland said, “This is a huge order especially at a time when the domestic market is just about to bounce back. This order re-affirms our strategy to substantially enhance our sales outside India”.
With this new order, the company will be an important stake holder in the Sri Lankan’s transport segment.
