The Auto Expo 2016 was heralded with the launch of 85 new vehicles in different categories.
Spread over 16 indoor halls at the Greater Noida International Exhibition centre, the Auto Expo 2016 Motor Show heralded the introduction of 85 new vehicle launches of passenger vehicles, SUVs, motorcycles, scooters and electric buses, showcased by a galaxy of celebrities from the showbiz, sports and modelling world.
Some of the notable launches in the passenger vehicle segment were: Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ignis, Chevrolet Spin, Hyundai Tucson, Jaguar XE, Tata Hexa, Nissan X Trail, Honda BR V, Toyota Innova, Renault Kwid, Jeep Grand Chirokee, Volkswagen Polo GTI, Mercedes GLS, BMW 730 Li and many others. Similarly, in two-wheeler segment, all the majors like Hero MotoCorp, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Bajaj and others launched a long series of new vehicles.
The Components Show 2016, which celebrated 30 years of the expo was showcased at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, focused on two main aspects – technological innovation, and creativity. The talk of the town was definitely ‘Make in India’. Anand Group showcased the Make in India lion and in it perfectly captured all its component products.
The CK Birla Group’s engine and transmission manufacturing unit Avtec showed BS VI ready petrol and diesel engines for passenger vehicles developed in collaboration with Peugeot Citroen. Avtec has also licensed diesel engines that have a capacity of less than 2,000 cc.
Motherson Sumi showed its main product line – wiring harness in an innovative way. Most of the auto part makers were upbeat at the prospects of becoming players in the global markets, matching world standards to meet exacting demands of automobile manufacturers who are under pressure to upgrade emission and safety norms.
For the first time, the Components Show witnessed an ‘Innovation Pavilion’ which had 13 companies showcasing their latest technologies and innovation in the field of automotive components. One of them was Wheels India which displayed forged aluminium wheels – 60 per cent lighter than steel. The ‘Innovation Pavilion’ focused on light weight technology.
