RSB Transmissions awarded for manufacturing excellence and quality.

Pune-based RSB Transmissions (I) Ltd, a global engineering institution with a turnover in excess of Rs 1,400 crore, received the Excellence in Quality Award. The award was received by S Nagasubramanian of Corporate Communication Department on behalf of the company. Awards are given every year by the Aditya Birla Group and Manufacturing Today to appreciate manufacturing excellence and exemplary contribution by industry professionals in the areas of productivity, quality, safety, sustainability, customer service, innovation, operations, technology, training and skill development and supply chain management.

RSB manufactures propeller shafts, steering systems and components, transmission components and assembly, and other automotive components along with construction equipment aggregates. It has 13 manufacturing plants spread over seven locations in India: Jamshedpur, Pune, Dharwad, Chennai, Pantnagar, Cuttack and Lucknow. The company also has manufacturing plants (one each) in Homer (USA) and Silao (Mexico). In 2006, RSB made its overseas foray and acquired Miller Brothers in Michigan, USA. It further expanded its global footprints by setting up a greenfield project in Mexico in 2011. In November 2013, RSB joined the select band of elite global quality corporates after having been conferred with one of the world’s highest awards in Total Quality Management (TQM) – Deming Prize – one amongst few Indian automotive companies to get this award by JUSE (Union of Japanese Scientists & Engineers) at Tokyo, Japan, for achieving all-round business excellence.

In November 2014, RSB signed a Technical Assistance Agreement with Jidosha Buhin Kogyo (JBK), Japan, to manufacture and sell the latest state-of-the-art propeller shafts for SCV/SUV/LCV segments in the domestic and export markets. The company’s customers include leading Indian and global OEMs like Tata Motors, Tata Hitachi, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, John Deere, Fiat, Ford, Allison Transmissions, American Axle, Eaton, Magna, GKN, Daimler, Renault Nissan, Kamaz, Caterpillar, Terex, JCB, Kobelco, Komatsu, GE, Volkswagen, PSA Peugeot Citroen, etc.
