The pioneer of electric cars in India, Chetan Maini is back in business with a new venture which aims at providing critical universal energy infrastructure and services to accelerate mass electric vehicle usage. Along with his brothers, Maini has floated a company called Virya Mobility 5.0, which has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with Sun New Energy Systems led by Uday Khemka, Vice-Chairman of the Sun Group. Announcing the new venture Sun Mobility, Maini said the company plans to deploy an open-architecture ecosystem built around a network of quick interchange battery stations. These stations, predominantly powered by renewable energy, will refuel electric vehicles at cost lower than and speed faster than conventional petrol pumps.
