Fiat Opens New Dealership in Chennai

Fiat Group Automobiles India has opened its second dealership, Ramkay Fiat in Chennai. Ramkay Fiat, is the largest Fiat service station in India having 23 mechanical bays, of which 11 are equipped with two-post lifts, the service station will have one of the biggest workshops among Fiat dealerships. Being a TVS Motors dealer for the past 33 years, Ramkay has ventured into the four-wheeler space.

The Italian carmaker is currently in the process of setting up its solo dealership network in the Indian car industry and is planning to follow a rapid expansion strategy to increase its presence. The next step for the automaker after setting up the dealership network will be to deliver world class service and after-sales service.

After inaugurating the dealership, Nagesh Basavanhalli, President and Managing Director Fiat Group Automobiles India, said, “At present, the company is eager to expand its presence in the Indian auto market, besides upgrading its product portfolio. Currently we have 63 dealerships and plans to reach a total of 100 dealerships by the end of 2013. While referring to South Indian market, he said we have 19 dealerships are operational and 26 letter of intent have been received as of June 2013.”

Earlier, Fiat India announced that its line-up of nine models planned for India before 2016 will include four vehicles under the Fiat brand, four Jeep branded products and one Abarth model. “We will be introducing Jeep Wrangler Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and Abarth power hatchback in the domestic car market this year. Fiat will be introducing new brands to the market and in the coming months you will see up to five new and refreshed models,” Mr Basavanhalli added.
