Ford India has announced that it has re-opened bookings for all variants of its most awarded, urban SUV Ford EcoSport. Since its launch about an year ago, Ford EcoSport received an overwhelming response. Enough to create a demand-supply situation, with waiting for certain models extending beyond three months. Eating into the Duster market, the EcoSport has added to the list of successful Ford models in India, followed by the Figo. After delivering 50,000 EcoSports, Ford India, apart from managing to reduce the waiting period a good deal, has opened the bookings for the compact SUV. The company hasn’t revealed if it will take a certain number of booking before it suspends the process. Assuming a few units from the first round of booking is yet to be delivered, the number of bookings the company will entertain during the second round will not be more than what it entertained during the first round. The company is known to be ramping up production, but the real rise is capacity is expected to come after the Sanand plant goes on stream. This will take another six months at least. And when it does, Ford is expected to add another exciting new car to its product portfolio. A practical version of the Figo concept – an entry-level sedan that will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent.
