Ford to unveil new global concept and showcase smart technologies at the Auto Expo 2014

Ford will unveil a new global concept vehicle at this year’s 12th New Delhi Auto Expo 2014. Based on a global design philosophy, but created to serve the specific needs of consumers in India, the concept will showcase Ford’s vision for the future in the competitive compact-car segment in India and other dynamic emerging markets. With Asia Pacific set to account for nearly a third of Ford’s global sales volume by mid-decade – up from 15 percent in 2010 – the concept will give visitors a glimpse into the kind of vehicle that Ford expects to play an important role in the region.The compact car segment is the most competitive segment in India and has been outpacing the industry for the past decade making up almost a third of total sales in 2013. Ford expects compact car sales in India to grow from about 1 million units last year to roughly 2 million units in 2018 reflecting the significance of compact cars to Indian consumers. Visitors will be greeted by a full display of Ford vehicles for India, with the Ford Figo, Ford Classic, Ford Fiesta, Ford EcoSport and Ford Endeavour displaying the latest look and feel for 2014. The stand has also been designed to engage visitors with lively and interactive activities demonstrating Ford’s green, safe and smart technologies. The EcoBoost Touch Table will give visitors a visceral sensation of the power of a turbocharged engine. Featuring two high-powered fans to simulate forced induction, visitors will have the chance to take and share souvenir photos showing them being quite literally blown away.Visitors to Ford’s display will be able to experience the SYNC voice enabled infortainment technology, which Ford developed in collaboration with Microsoft. In Ford’s Safety Zone, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about Ford’s advanced safety technologies, including Emergency Assist, which uses SYNC to automatically connect drivers with emergency operators following a serious accident. Visitors can also learn tips on how to be smarter, safer and greener drivers from Ford’s Driving Skills for Life programme.
