Honda Cars India has launched the fourth generation Honda CR-V in India. Assembled in India at the company’s manufacturing facility in Greater Noida near Delhi, the new CR-V is had with either a 156PS, 2-litre petrol engine, or a 190PS, 2.4-litre petrol engine. The 2.4-litre petrol engine CR-V is equipped with an automatically engaging four-wheel drive. The SUV is available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a ‘seamless’ 5-speed auto transmission. Claimed to be more fuel efficient than the model it replaces, the new SUV is capable of seating five across two rows of seats. The list of features the vehicle offers is cruise control, paddle shift on 2.4-litre engine model, One Motion Dive Down Rear Seats which helps in increasing the cargo area, and a full-colour 5-inch ‘intelligent’ Multi-Information Display (i-MID)that offers a smart interface via fingertip controls on the steering wheel communicating fuel consumption, audio/HFT (in 2.4L AVN grade) status display and rear camera display during parking. The intelligent AVN system includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen with turn-by-turn navigation, DVD/CD player, iPod, USB, Bluetooth/hands-free telephone connectivity and more. Other features include vehicle stability assist system, ABS and EBD, dual front SRS air bags, front-side curtain airbags with passenger side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), and an advanced Compatibility Engineering. The appearance of the new CR-V is more assertive. The front is bolder, and highlighted by a premium sporty chrome grille and sleek, wrap around HID projector headlamps with washer. The 17-inch alloys present the CR-V with good ground clearance as well as a contemporary stance.
