General Motors India will commence the production of export oriented vehicles in the mid 2014 at its Talegaon plant near Pune. To be sold in Chile by first quarter of 2015, the export oriented Beat will be a left-hand-drive version. First model to be exported from India, the Beat will be powered by petrol and diesel engines. GM India’s best-selling model, the Beat, for exports, will also have fuel-efficient features. Said Arvind Saxena, President and Managing Director, GM India, “The exports will create more employment opportunities within GM India and the supplier community. It will help to improve the capacity utilisation at the Talegaon Plant.””The start of Beat exports underlines GM’s commitment to India and demonstrates the quality of the country’s growing supplier base,” he added.
