Heavy vehicle drivers, trainers to have safety lessons

With the number of highway accidents rapidly increasing, the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) has decided to train drivers of heavy vehicles in safe driving. The institute has designed two specials courses – one for instructors of motor driving schools and the other for drivers of heavy vehicles. IDTR, a Union Government entity, is the only institute in Maharashtra that has the latest equipment to check skills of drivers and provide them advanced training. The latest courses will teach them how to drive safely on highways, precautions they need to take at night, driving in ghats and through difficult terrains. They will get hands-on training on simulators, sensors and will get tips from road experts on minimising human errors to avoid accidents.
