The Indian two-wheeler industry sold 1,800,672 units during the month of October 2016, thereby registering a growth of 8.72 per cent as compared with sales in the same month last year, according to data released by the industry body SIAM. This time mopeds overtook scooters in terms of sales in the domestic market for the first time in fiscal 2017. While mopeds sold 1,144,516 units, sales of scooters stood at 568,410 units. Talking about the top ten selling two-wheelers in the country during October 2016, Hero Splendor overtook Honda Activa after nine months by selling 4,132 units more than the latter. While Hero Splendor sold 254,813 units, Honda Activa stood at 250,681 units, reporting a year-on-year increase of 8 per cent and 6 per cent, respectively. Hero HF Deluxe came third after registering 25 per cent sales growth during October 2016. The motorcycle sold 133,986 units as against 107,294 units during October 2015
