Betting big on scooters and targetting young buyers, Indian arm of Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has launched a new 110cc Scooter – Honda Cliq at Rs 42,499 (Ex-Delhi). Over 61 per cent of HMSI’s total sales including exports come from the scooter segment. Honda Activa has been company’s top seeking scooter for a while now and sensing the need of one more product the company has introduced Cliq to its existing line-up of five automatic scooters (excluding Honda Navi). Speaking at the launch event, Minoru Kato, President and CEO, HMSI said, “Size out of 10 Two-wheelers sold in India belong to 100-110 cc segment. Within this segment automatic scooters have witnessed tremendous growth and now count for almost half of the total size. Within the highly increasing demand and varied customer needs this segment is poised to sub segmentation. As the leader of scooter category, Honda has developed Cliq which would addressthe needs o customers with additional value of comfort and convenience. ” Honda Cliq will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan and will gonon sale first in Rajasthan followed by a phase-wise launch in other states. HMSI says that it’s new offering will be available across the country by the festive season.
