The Indian arm of Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha Motor aims to sell over 1 million units in the country in 2017. The company also said that India has the potential and is on track to be the second largest two-wheeler market for Yamaha after Indonesia by the end of 2017 if things go as per plan. Yamaha Motor India has sold over 7.86 lakh units of two-wheelers in 2016 and over 50 per cent of its total sales have come from scooters.

Roy Kurian, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India said “2016 has been terrific for us, it’s been very exciting, we have sold over 7.86 lakh units and we were able to consolidate our premium segment and scooters. As a new player, we were working very hard on that specially to communicate to our customers that we make scooters also and we achieved success on that. We have sold over 4.80 lakh scooters.”
