Johnson Controls assumes complete control of Tata Johnson Controls (TJC) Joint Venture in India

Johnson Controls, a global leader in automotive seat systems and components, has acquired full (100-percent) ownership of Tata Johnson Controls (TJC), a 50: 50 joint venture between Tata Automotive Components (TACO) and Johnson Controls. A tier supplier of automotive seating systems and components in India, serving most OEMs in India, the company has come under complete control of Johnson Controls with the transfer of the 50 percent shares held by Taco. Johnson Controls has bought out Taco’s stake in the venture at an undisclosed amount. In complete control of the business, known formerly as Tata Johnson Controls, Johnson Controls expects to leverage the opportunity to carve out a larger presence in the area of automotive seating, electronics and interiors businesses in India. Apart from developing its engineering expertise at the new technical center at Pimpri near Pune, the company plans to expand its prototype and testing capability for the India region. Operating at eleven locations across India, including an engineering center in Pune, Johnson Controls employs 2,100 people in India approximately, and is present since 1995.
