Made in India Jeep marks a tipping point for turnaround of FCA

Fiat Chrysler is betting on the indigenously made ‘Jeep Compass’ to shake off its insignificant presence in the Indian car market, with its chief executive declaring that the new SUV will be the “tipping point” for the turnaround of Fiat Chrysler in the country. To be launched in July, the company will kick-off the start of serial production of Jeep Compass starting June. Likely to be priced aggressively between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, Fiat Chrysler is hoping to ride on the SUV wave in the country and make a comeback. Apart from the Compass, FCA has recently given a go-ahead for compact SUV codenamed 526 or Renegade – which will hit the market in the first quarter of 2019 and the vehicle will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
