India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki launched its much awaited compact vehicle Ignis for Rs 4.59 lakh . Ignis is the third car on Nexa Shelf and would be the first car to have an AMT technology in both petrol and diesel variants. Ignis is built on a new generation rigid platform embodying Suzuki Total Effective Control Technology for occupant protection. The company, along with its suppliers, has invested over Rs 950 crore towards development of Ignis, Ignis now comes with 98.5 percent localisation, claims Maruti Suzuki. The carmaker initially planned to launch Ignis during the festive season of 2016 but due to high demand of Baleno and Brezza, Maruti Suzuki pushed the launch to January. The automaker has planned 15 new models for the Indian market by 2020. The carmaker started accepted e-bookings at Rs 11,000 from January 1, 2017. Till now the carmaker has received 6,000 number of booking.
Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki, Kenichi Ayukawa said, “Nexa, our premium automotive retail channel, now has an offering for the millennials – Ignis. It will help us expand our presence in the premium compact segment.”
“It combines unconventional design, seamless smartphone experience with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, technological supremacy with AGS on petrol and diesel, advanced safety features as standard and personalisation options, making it unique on every parameter,” he said.
