Mercedes-Benz has launched the new E-Class in India. With over 23,000 E-Class cars sold in India till date, the new E-Class features a new front-end design and modifications that are in line with the company’s new design philosophy. The new E-class thus reinterprets the classical design values of the brand by infusing emotionally appealing contours to make the car look superior, refined and sporty. Apart from a completely revised front with single ‘full LED’ head lights, flowing light elements within the lamps, redesigned bonnet profile and a radiator with the star at the centre, the sides are marked by a new feature line that runs below the structure from the rear door through to the tail light. If this presents the car with an elongated and elegant look, the new E-Class gets revised lights and bumper at the rear. Riding on 17-inch, or 18-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels with a high-sheen finish, the new E-Class gets refreshed interior with brushed oakwood trim and silver-chrome accents. If the ambient lighting has a soothing effect, the seats (front seats come with memory) are stitched in premium ARTICO man-made leather, and offer high levels of comfort. The COMAND online multimedia system with 17.8 cm high-resolution colour display offers internet connectivity with limited range of handsets, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, and hard-disc navigation. The COMAND function, in addition to presenting a storage space of 10GB, is equipped with advanced telematics function and navigation covering a vast range of points of interests like gas stations, ATMs, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, etc. The safety net of the new E-Class contains eight airbags (side impact air-bags for driver and front passenger and window airbags), Anti-Skid Resistance (ASR), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Brake Assist (BA). If ATTENTION ASSIST warns the driver about his inattentiveness and drowsiness, belt tensioner and belt force limiter for driver, front passenger and outboard rear seat passengers and three stage impact protection front crash structure benchmarks the car’s safety enrichments. Intelligent Light System comes with a variable light distribution with cornering function, that helps in adapting to any road conditions during night driving, making the drive safer. The ‘Active Bonnet’ is also a unique safety feature in the E-Class that enhances pedestrian safety.
