Despite the acceptance of banned high currency notes at petrol pumps, there was no significant surge in the consumption of petrol (motor spirits) and diesel (high-speed diesel) in the month of November. The petrol consumption recorded a growth of 14.2 per cent in November 2016, as compared to November 2015 and a cumulative growth of 11.7 per cent for the period April-November 2016. The diesel consumption in the country recorded a growth of 10.5 per cent in November 2016, as compared to November 2015 and a cumulative growth of 4.1 per cent for the period April-November 2016. As per the Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell (PPAC) report, the consumption of both petrol and diesel remained average in November when compared to the rest of the months this year.
