Royal Enfield launched the adventure tourer bike Himalayan. The booking for Himalayan has already started and deliveries for motorcycle will start by the end of the month.
Launching the vehicle, Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director, Eicher Motors said with its purpose built grounds up design, Himalayan is a simple and capable go anywhere motorcycle that will redefine adventure touring in India.
Built on tenets of being aspirational and yet accessible the company is aiming for leadership in the mid-size motorcycle space (250 to 750 cc) globally.
With demand outpacing supply over the last few years, Royal Enfield has been constantly ramping up the capacity. According to the company, with plans of hiking the capacity to
9 lakh units by 2018, its endeavour
is to reduce waiting period as much
as possible.
Powered by a new single cylinder 410 cc engine, the Himalayan has been developed over the last three years with lakhs of kilometers of testing. The vehicle is built on a rugged duplex built cradle frame designed and developed by Harris Performance.
The vehicle has a high ground clearance of 220 mm and comes equipped with a strong mono shock rear suspension which allows for longer travel with smoother ride, regardless of terrain, claims the company.
Usage of modern design and material on the engine will translate to increased fuel efficiency and low maintenance, which the company claims the user can ride for 10,000 km between oil changes.
