Scania Commercial Vehicles India participated in the first International Association of Public Transport (UITP) conference held in Bangalore. The manufacturer of commercial vehicles and engines addressed key factors related to fuel alternatives. Fossil fuel emissions from automobiles extensively pollute the environment and finding alternatives to fossil fuels has been an issue of major concern for decades. Scania, at the UITP India Bus Seminar, encouraged the use of bio-fuels as an alternative and reiterated that bio-fuel usage in bus systems is a sustainable transportation solution. The usage of bio-fuels like biogas, bio-ethanol and bio-diesel has multiple benefits like clean environment, less oil dependency, and will also help create new job opportunities. Scania claimed that the carbon dioxide emissions will come down by 70per cent if alternate fuels are adopted. The company is developing bio-fuel-powered engines which will comply with Euro 6 norms. UITP is a worldwide network that brings together public transport stakeholders and sustainable transport modes to advance the development of such critical policy agendas.
