Skoda unveils the new Octavia in India

Volkswagen Group company, Skoda has unveiled the new Octavia in India. Production of the new Octavia has resumed at the Volkswagen Group plant at Aurangabad in Maharashtra. The car, boasting of a spacious cabin, high functionality and incorporation of latest technology, marks the arrival of third generation Octavia. The earlier Octavia, with which Skoda entered the Indian market, was phased out in 2010. Its place was eventually taken by the Laura, which in the European market replaced the Octavia outright. If the Laure will be phased out in India is not known yet. The new Octavia would therefore, at least for some time to come, will be made at Aurangabad along side the Superb, Yeti and Laura. Octavia is a key product in the largest model campaign in ?koda’s corporate history. This campaign lights the way as the manufacturer continues on its path to growth. The ultimate aim of this growth strategy is to increase annual sales worldwide to at least 1.5 million vehicles per year. Said ?KODA CEO Prof. Dr.h.c. Winfried Vahland at the unveiling of the new Octavia, “The new ?koda Octavia is now being produced at purpose-built facilities in one of the international growth markets. By far our most important model in the Indian market is also an engine of growth for the company.” The largest, most practical, safest, most comfortable and environmentally friendly Octavia ever, the new Octavia boasts of unrivalled space, a timeless and elegant design, high functionality, innovative safety and comfort systems. Subject to many innovative ideas, the new Octavia will offer value for money. Between November 2001 and October 2010, Skoda sold 44,900 Octavias in India.
