The event is an opportunity for the industry and visitors to co-create, co-exist and celebrate.
The 14th Auto Expo, the biggest extravaganza and much-awaited event of the automotive industry in India, kick-starts in the second week of February 2018. The Motor Show is scheduled from February 9 to February 14, 2018 at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. As the counterpart of The Motor Show—the Component Show—will be held separately, both the events will be jointly inaugurated on the February 8, 2018. This time the Motor Show will witness one additional day, extending the world-class experience to auto-enthusiasts. This extension has been done due to the rising interest and increasing footfalls of the visitors.
Auto Expo – The Motor Show and Components Show, jointly organised by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), has been successfully establishing itself as a key global auto show in the region. The Auto Expo mirrors the rapid growth of the Indian automotive industry and aptly showcases the grandeur of the industry. The event has developed into a platform for the automotive industry to exhibit its prowess in manufacturing, R&D, and in future mobility concepts and designs.
Highlighting the salient features of Auto Expo – The Motor Show, Vishnu Mathur, Director General, SIAM, said “The Auto Expo has conventionally been one of the most pursued platforms for the automobile industry in India and with the continued success of the show, it has gained a global thrust giving the participating brands a worldwide exposure. Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2018 is aimed at celebrating the industry’s biggest automotive event offering an opportunity to the industry and visitors to co-create, co-exist and celebrate.”
This will be the 31st year of the Auto Expo, with its debut taking place in 1986. What is now Asia’s largest and complete automotive show, was conceived in 1985 and had to face major challenges such as contending with the 16,000 sq m of indoor and outdoor space combined.
The Auto Expo 1986 was a window for technology transfers since it showed how the Indian automotive industry was absorbing new technologies and promoting indigenous R&D for adapting these technologies for the rugged Indian conditions. The nine-day show was a path breaking event marked by then-Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s visit to the show.
Subsequently, the Auto Expo 2016, chimed to the theme of indigenous design with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ campaign and the country’s commitment towards cleaner forms of mobility. While ‘Mobility for all’ was a specific theme for the Auto Expo-Components Show, the Motor Show didn’t have a theme as such.
This year’s Motor Show is set to have heavy participants like Maruti Suzuki, Mercedez-Benz, Honda Cars, BMW, Hero, Hyundai, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Mahindra Rise, Pinnacle Industries etc.
Auto Expo – The Motor Show 2018 which will be spread across 1,85,000 sq m with all automobile majors participating in 14 indoor exhibition halls, is all set to whet the appetite of the auto-enthusiasts with exciting new launches and displays. Apart from several vintage cars, super cars and others, a particularly unique initiative this time is the creation of special zones for visitors such as the Innovation Zone, the Destination Zone, the Smart Mobility Zone and the Competition Zone that would offer world class technology-enabled experiences under one roof.
