Top four sales & marketing executives exit Volkswagen India

After the withdrawal of General Motors from the domestic market and about 1,500 job losses at Tata Motors, it is now the turn of executives at Volkswagen’s Indian subsidiary to head for the exit door. An empty top deck in the sales division at of the local unit of the world’s largest car maker has made it more challenging for Volkswagen that is battling to list its sub-par market share in India. According to several people in the know, head of sales Pankaj Sharma, national head of corporate sales Neerav Shah, and South sales manager Ravi Prakash have left the company. There may be some more exits expected in the coming weeks. Already without a brand head, VW’s brand is now being steered by an interim executive – Theirry Lespiaucq – who is the head of Volkswagen Group Sales Pvt Ltd. Volkswagen India declined to comment on the exits and their implications.
