Delving deeper, the company will cater to mobility in sectors like on-road, off-road, aerospace, farm and construction equipment, mechatronics, and defence and energy sectors. Structured across three verticals – consulting and advisory, technical and management services, the company hopes to bag accounts that would involve foreign companies keen to set shop in India and avail services of Indian business. Such companies, according to Dr Jaura, the managing director and founder, are finding it tough to get a footing in India. They lack the necessary expertise, or the ability to invest in manpower and skill sets at the initial stages. TRAKTION would help them set shop in India, baby sit them until they are ready to grow on their own. Interestingly, TRAKTION is working with a highly successful smart phone company wanting to set up shop in India to integrate its technology to develop a mobility (read auto) solution. Hoping to bridge the gap between industries and the academia, TRAKTION is also involved in a project where it is working with IIT to develop a cost effective moisture sensor for the agriculture sector.
Headquartered at Mumbai, the company has 4 people in Mumbai, and a virtual team of over 25 engineers. With offices in New Delhi, Chennai, Detroit and New York in USA, and North Hampton in the UK, TRAKTION is working on a project involving the development of a suspension system that could get it into the hardware side of the business.
Given the structure of the company, TRAKTION is not expected to play a major role in hardware according to Dr Jaura. The company would rather be keen to play a crucial role in the development range that spans between design and proto. While electric mobility is an are of interest, the company is supported by consultants having over 20 years of experience in the fields of engineering, technology and innovation at major international and domestic organisations.
