Sops doled out to the rural sector by finance minister Arun Jaitley will help the two-wheeler industry recover from the post-demonetisation slump, said experts. In his budget speech, Jaitley announced an allocation of Rs 1,87,223 crore on rural, agriculture and allied sectors, up by 24 per cent since last year. Along with the hike in allocation, tax rate for salaried class in the income bracket of 2.5lakh to 5lakh was reduced to 5 per cent from the prevailing 10 per cent. Together with an apparent earnest commitment showed towards doubling farm incomes by 2025, makers of two-wheelers can expect some respite.
