Two wheelers continue to record good growth

Amidst the rising interest rates, fluctuating fuel prices, and rising prices on the back of higher input costs, two wheelers are putting up a good show. Suzuki Motorcycle India recorded a 9% increase in its September 2013 sales figures as compared to the same month the year before. The company sold 41,734 units in September 2013 compared to 38,271 units sold in September 2012. Mahindra Two Wheelers recorded a strong growth of 138% during the month of September 2013. The company sold 20,890 units, out of which domestic sales were a healthy 19,716 units. A 143% growth over previous year. The Centuro motorcycle introduced recently, received 50,000 bookings, forcing the company to increase its production. Mahindra manufactures the two wheelers at a plant at Pithampur near Indore. Second largest two wheeler maker in Inda, Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India, recorded the highest sale ever in the month of September 2013. The company sold overall 328965 units as against 243126 units in September 2012. Motorcycle sales of the company stood at 163229 units. Scooter sales of the company was 165736 units in the month of September 2013.
