Karnataka’s State Transport Commissioner M K Aiyappa stated that the shared services offered by Uber & Ola are illegal and actions would be taken against violators after holding discussion with cab aggregators. The cab service providers had introduced shared services of Ola, Uber illegal in Bengaluru city for passengers to take the ride at a lower cost, besides promoting carpool to reduce traffic congestion. Speaking on, Aiyappa said, “The shared services violate Motor Vehicle Act and the Karnataka On-demand Transportation Technology Aggregators Rules, 2016. The cabs are permitted only to pick and drop the passengers to a particular point,” he said.
