Vinod Sahay, a former Tata Motors executive, will now lead Mahindra Truck and Bus Division as its CEO as the group initiates a major reshuffle of its senior executives that will take immediate effect. Sahay, who joined Mahindra in June 2015, played a key role in holding onto market share in medium and heavy duty trucks at Tata Motors in the face of rising competition. After joining Mahindra, he played a key role in restructuring the two wheeler division led by Rajesh Jejurikar. Sahay’s position at Mahindra Two Wheelers will be filled by Prakash Wakankar, who is currently the CEO of Mahindra Retail. Apart from that, Harish Chavan, who led the farm business division at Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector, has been made COO of International Operations. Chavan’s position will be taken by Pankaj Sonalkar, who is heading Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers. Sahay will report to Rajan Wadhera, the president of the automotive sector, whereas both Chavan and Sonalkar will report to Rajesh Jejurikar, the president of Farm Equipment business. The changes are with immediate effect, however, Nalin Mehta, the current CEO of Mahindra Trucks and Buses at Mahindra will work in tandem with Sahay for few months, before Sahay takes complete charge.
