Volvo Eicher Starts Manufacturing Euro VI Engines

Volvo Eicher Commercial vehicle (VECV) a five year old joint venture, has started manufacturing Euro-6 diesel engines in the country. The new engine manufacturing facility located in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, will have an initial capacity to produce 25,000 engines and could be scaled up to 100,000 units by 2015.

The Euro VI-compliant diesel engines would be supplied to Volvo Europe and the same platform would be adapted to Euro-3 and Euro-4 engine technologies to meet the requirements of VECV and the Volvo group for Asian markets. The new power train facility is built at an investment of Rs 375 crore. The new facility will be a global hub for meeting the medium- duty automotive engine requirements for Volvo Group globally for five and eight litre engines.
