Following
representations from various industry bodies to the Chief Minister, the
Karnataka government – which recently announced the extension of lockdown – is
reportedly gearing up to allow industries to reopen by following strict
Covid-19 protocols.

The joint team
of industry captains consisted of Kamal Bali, Former Chairman, CII – Karnataka,
TR Parasuraman, President, BCIC, and Satish Machani, Chairman, ACMA. They
assured the Chief Minister, BS Yediyurappa that all the protocols will be
followed by the industries, and also CSR support from industries will also be
extended. They feel that the MSMEs and export units are unable to sustain
lockdowns which is further causing distress and financial burdens on their
employees.

According to the
release, the CM said that the Covid cases are increasing in rural Karnataka but
the government is hoping to bring the same under control in the coming days.

Kamal Bali,
Former Chairman, CII – Karnataka, said that the government and the industry wish
to save lives and livelihoods. TR Parasuraman feels that the CM and his team
are doing a commendable job in this difficult time to bring a balance between
lives and livelihood. Lastly, according to Satish Machani, the CM
administration has shown great leadership in such unpredictable times.

All the industry
captains are appreciating the work of the CM and are ready to follow all the
safety measures and guidelines once the industries reopen in the state of
Karnataka. They all feel that the safety of the people is the top priority for
the leaders. The Chief Minister is thankful to the industry leaders and has
expressed his desire to open the industries in a phased manner by following
strict Covid-19 protocols.
